We extend a warm, friendly welcome to all!

Providence UC – Last Summer Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Providence United Church Sunday has held very successful outdoor services during the months of August and September. The weather has been kind! This Sunday, September 19th, our guest speaker will be Rev. John Patterson and the Providence Road Band will be providing the special music along with Betty Knox on the keyboard. We ask that you bring along a lawn chair, a bottle of water for hydration and a mask for yourself. We will be following Covid protocols of social distancing and masks when singing. If it rains, the service will be canceled.

A Trinity Reopening Welcome Back!

We are so thrilled to have our first Service in the Sanctuary this Sunday; September 19th and the excitement has been building! Please follow Covid 19 Protocols carefully as we work together to keep everyone safe. At this time, the Sunday Service will not be livestreamed, but will be available on YouTube as soon as possible.

Get Ready for Meat Pies!

We welcome Olive Macoomb and an amazing group of ladies who begin making meat pies on Tuesday, September 21 at 9:00 a.m. in the morning. The fellowship will be fantastic and the baking aromas enticing. It is with great anticipation that we wait for the availability of the meat pies!

Patricia Burley (Past UCW President)

Patricia was very involved with UCW Presbyterial and was involved with UCW at all levels. Let us keep her family in our prayers as they go through this difficult loss.

FEASTING ON THE WORD BIBLE STUDY…

will be starting up again on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

A BIG THANK-YOU…

to Connie Picken who looked after the church office so capably while I was away on holidays for the past two weeks. You and your skills are greatly appreciated!

Sunday’s Virtual Coffee Time News…

Trinity and Providence United Church has enjoyed Virtual Coffee Time for over a year. We thank Rev. Andrew and Steve Oliver for facilitating these special meeting times. However, with the opening of Church services, Virtual Coffee Time will no longer occur and fellowship, in person, can take place outside after Sunday services. Masks are to be worn and social distancing protocols must be followed. At this time, refreshments will not be served, but how wonderful it will be to see dear friends in person!

News from the Knitting Group

The Knitting Group has returned to Trinity! New members are welcome as projects are created for shut-ins and various people in need. The Knitting Group will meet every second Tuesday and the dates will be posted under “Special Activities This Week at Trinity”. Covid Protocols must be followed (signing the contact sheet upon entry, hand sanitizing, wearing masks and maintaining proper social distance). For further information about the Knitting Group, contact Gail Lewis at 705-738-1279.

A Message from our Chairperson, Cathy Bennett

Trinity Church Family:

It has been a very long year and a half since we have been able to gather together at Trinity.

I want to thank you all so very much for continuing to support Trinity during this difficult and trying time.

As you have heard Trinity’s doors will be open for in-house service starting September 19th at 10:30 a.m. I want to thank the re-opening committee for working hard to make this happen.

Some of you may still not feel comfortable coming into the church. That is understandable given all that we have been through. The service will be live streamed and also will be available on You-Tube shortly after the service.

For those who are okay coming back you will notice many changes in the church that have been set in place based on the guidelines set forth by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit and the Provincial Government.

The sanctuary has been set up with chairs 2 meters apart. There are single, double, three and four chairs together spaced as per the guidelines. Masks MUST be worn at all times. There will be someone at the door to sign you in asking you for your name and phone number. There will be ushers who will escort you to your seat. If you have a coat, it must be taken with you to your seat. Name tags will not be available. In order to limit contact, bulletins will not be available.

Everything will be on the power point screen and through email. If you are feeling sick, we ask that you do not attend, just to be on the safe side.

I know this sounds like a lot of rules, but trust me, once you are seated

it will feel so great to be back together. Of course, if things change and the Covid numbers start to go back up and the province is shut down we will not be able to open. That is why it is so important that we ALL get our Covid-19 vaccine, not only for our own sake but also for everyone around us including friends and family.

Looking forward to better days ahead!

Blessings,

Cathy Bennett, Chair of Council

Connie Picken/Dave Mackay, Co-chairs of the Re-opening Committee

Haiti Earthquake Relief

Another earthquake hit Haiti with devastating results! They have suffered one emergency after another. The United Church makes our emergency response possible. Our support brings effective relief as we partner with the Haitian Methodist Church and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank already on the scene. Right now, our response will bring needed shelter, food, water, first aid and medical supplies. The United Church made an immediate response of $10,000 from a Mission & Service emergency reserve. By phoning 1-416-231-5931 (with credit card in hand) you may make your response to add to this urgently needed relief.

Thank you.
