“Come Cook with Us” is a Youth Unlimited program in Bobcaygeon eon where we teach kids grades 3-8 cooking skills by guiding them through a new dinner recipe each week, which began the week of September 8. I would still like to find one additional volunteer for Thursday evenings from 4:00-6:30 p.m. If you would like to continue sharing about those needs with your congregation, that would be a great help to us. Registration for the program is also open now, so feel free to pass on this registration link to parents who may be interested: https://yfc.ca/kawartha-lakes/come-cook-with-us/ .
I want you all to have the opportunity to be involved in CCWU in whatever way works for you, so if you'd like to take one step further and partner with us by donating non-perishables, kitchen supplies, or money, please let me know. If you'd like to know more about CCWU or Youth Unlimited, I'm happy to share about our work in Kawartha Lakes and the impact our programs make on kids and youth.

Witness Blanket
October 16 th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Trinity United Church – Cannington
50 Laidlaw Street N.
Inspired by a woven blanket, the Witness Blanket is a large-scale work of art. It contains hundreds of items reclaimed from residential schools, churches, government buildings and traditional and cultural structures from across Canada. Here, you can explore the items and stories carried by the Witness Blanket. They are accompanied by the voices of Survivors who talk about the experience of being forced into residential schools. Their generous and insightful stories convey the reality of anti-Indigenous racism, colonialism and genocide. They reveal the ongoing harms caused by Canada’s residential school system.
A viewing event of the Witness Blanket has been scheduled for Thursday, October 16th @ 2 p.m. The location is at Trinity United Church in Cannington, which is about a 1-hour drive from Bobcaygeon. Carpooling would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to attend this event and/or can drive or need a drive, please contact me at my email, kim.draper.tuc@gmail.com or let Sue in the office know and arrangements can be made. There is no charge for visiting this exhibit; however, I’m sure donations will be accepted and appreciated.
