UCW – Bobcaygeon “A Heartfelt Thank You”
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our Sunday service on October 5th, 2025 such a wonderful success! We are especially grateful to our guest speaker, Barb Smith-Morrison from Brooksong Retreat & Cancer Support Centre in Haliburton for sharing her time and inspiring words.
Sincere thanks as well to our audio and video volunteers, our ushers and collection team, everyone who helped set up and clean up Trinity Hall, and the many hands in the kitchen who cleaned, wiped, and put everything neatly away. Your teamwork and cheerful spirit made
all the difference. A special thank you to Carol Young for her many phone calls and behind-the-scenes coordination that ensured everything ran without a hitch.
And finally, heartfelt appreciation to Thea and John Patterson for their foresight, love, and fortitude in creating Brooksong Retreat, a much-needed haven of peace and support for those experiencing cancer.
Together, you made this service truly meaningful. Thank you!

Witness Blanket
October 16 th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Trinity United Church – Cannington
50 Laidlaw Street N.
Inspired by a woven blanket, the Witness Blanket is a large-scale work of art. It contains hundreds of items reclaimed from residential schools, churches, government buildings and traditional and cultural structures from across Canada. Here, you can explore the items and stories carried by the Witness Blanket. They are accompanied by the voices of Survivors who talk about the experience of being forced into residential schools. Their generous and insightful stories convey the reality of anti-Indigenous racism, colonialism and genocide. They reveal the ongoing harms caused by Canada’s residential school system.
A viewing event of the Witness Blanket has been scheduled for Thursday, October 16th @ 2 p.m. The location is at Trinity United Church in Cannington, which is about a 1-hour drive from Bobcaygeon. Carpooling would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to attend this event and/or can drive or need a drive, please contact me at my email, kim.draper.tuc@gmail.com or let Sue in the office know and arrangements can be made. There is no charge for visiting this exhibit; however, I’m sure donations will be accepted and appreciated.
