Brooksong Retreat & Cancer Support Centre

Last week, a group of 14 Trinity United Church folks enjoyed an awesome day trip to Haliburton to visit Brooksong Retreat & Cancer Support Centre. Before our visit, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Abbey Gardens.

Afterwards, Barb Smith-Morrison from Brooksong welcomed us to the house where so much healing, caring, and support take place. Barb gave us a wonderful personal tour of the facility, explaining the various programs offered, meal arrangements, and the many supports available to those affected by cancer.

It was a truly enjoyable and informative day, and I hope everyone who joined us came away with the same positive experience that I did.

Brooksong provides such a welcoming and caring environment for people navigating their cancer journeys. As we look ahead, I encourage everyone to keep Brooksong in mind when considering future donations or other ways to offer support. It is a very special place doing meaningful work in our community, and it deserves our continued encouragement and generosity.

INFORMATION BULLETIN!!

 Dear Friends,

Here is some important news from our newly formed RENTAL ACTION TEAM…….

Today, October 26th, we met with Sheila Cook, our Facilitator, and began our first pilot meeting regarding renting the space upstairs as an office. Through our discussions, it was determined that we would like to change the name of our project from “Closing the Gap” to our “Sustainable Church Initiative”. In future, we will use this designation for our work, pending the approval of Council.

We worked well together as a Rental Action Team and we accomplished a great deal at our meeting. We are so excited about the possibilities that we are discovering and want everyone to know that good things are happening as we focus on the tasks at hand. Sheila shared lots of relevant ideas and we look forward to continuing the work with her guidance and expertise.

We appreciate all the donations we have received in order to set up the office space. It looks professional. As of now, we are unable to receive any more donations and respectfully ask that donations be stopped until further notice.

Thank you everyone for your support and help. We will have more information to share in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned!!!

Your Rental Action Team: David Savournin, Mary Tomlinson, Cathy Bennett, Jan Carson and Carol Wells-Gordon.

CHOIR AT TRINITY!

Calling all Bakers

Soon it will be time for Trinity’s wonderful Christmas Bazaar. I am asking all Trinity bakers to help make the Bake Table a huge success, last time it was in the summer.
