Providence United Church

At Providence on August 14, 2022 Rev. Janet Stobie will be preaching start time at 10:00 a.m. with Bill Gordon providing the special music, and Meg Leonard will be playing the hymns. We will gather at Providence on Aug. 14th starting at 10:00 a.m. We will not be having a service at Trinity on that date. Please bring a lawn chair as the sanctuary is quite small. There will be a speaker outside. This has been decided by council and we appreciate the invitation. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy the connection of Trinity and Providence churches.


Janice Bick

Jan Bick passed away peacefully and with grace on July 21, 2022 at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, with her loving husband by her side. A Funeral Service was be held at The Hendren Funeral Home in Bobcaygeon on Saturday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m. Let us keep John and the Bick family in our thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time of loss. Arrangements were made through The Hendren Funeral Home in Bobcaygeon.


James Torrie

It is with sadness that we share the news that Jim Torrie passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. Cremation has taken place and a Private Family Service is planned. We keep Amelia and the Torrie family in our hearts and prayers during this very sad, difficult time. Arrangements have been made through The Hendren Funeral Home in Bobcaygeon.

"You are invited so mark your calendars"

The UCW are making chili sauce in the kitchen on Thursday, September 1st at 9:00 a.m. and again on Tuesday, September 6th at 9:00 a.m. Lots of chopping and good fellowship. Bring your favourite knife and come and help. It would be much appreciated. I am still requesting 500 ml Mason jars. Thanks to everyone who have contributed jars already.

News from the Knitting Group

The Knitting Group meet every second Tuesday and the dates will be posted under “Special Activities This Week at Trinity”. For further information about the Knitting Group, contact Gail Lewis at 705-738-1279. Starting back up in the Fall.


Bobcaygeon Helps Foodbank

The number of clients has greatly increased at the Food Bank. The Food Bank Box in the narthex is picked up weekly. There are drop off boxes at both of our grocery stores.

Items in need:

Canned fruit, canned vegetables, juices boxes, canned juice, tooth paste, shampoo, deodorant and toilet tissue. Bobcaygeon Helps is now set up for e-transfer. The contact information is: Bobcaygeon Food Bank. The email address is: bobcaygeonfoodbank@gmail.com Method of payment through: email.

WANTED:

a volunteer to set up a coffee/juice roster for after the service. As of now, no one is responsible. There is a template beside the kitchen door. No volunteer, no coffee/juice. Thanks in advance.


Who will be preaching in the upcoming Services @ Trinity?

We welcome Phyllis Tamlin today and on August 21st, and Darlene Hallett on August 28th! There will be no church service at Trinity United Church here on August 14th but we will be joining Providence on that day with their service starting at 10:00 a.m.

Rev. Bob Root’s first service at Trinity will be Sun. Sept. 4th!



ECOR Women’s Retreat …

“Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors” will be held from September 16-18, 2022 at Kingfisher Bay Retreat Centre. Ladies come and join us for a wonderful weekend of friendship and learning. Join us for drumming, crafts, canoeing, smudge, visiting the Petroglyphs and the Curve Lake Pow Wow! You will be asked to make a personal commitment … an achievable goal at the end of the weekend toward making a difference, one person at a time. Keynote speaker is Michael Doxtater, he is the Director, Saagajiwe – of Indigenous Creative Practice at Toronto Metropolitan University. “Concerts in the Park” in Bobcaygeon are back!

August 11th “The Whoopsie Daisies” will be at the “Children’s Concert” which starts at 5:30 p.m. The adults’ Concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be featuring “Rye Street Band.”
